Description: The history of the snowman is fairly recent; in the Middle Ages it had no name. By the 19th century the perception of winter gradually changed; it was no longer just hardship and privation. So among pictorial representations of winter, people increasingly saw horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating and even snowmen which were a popular children´s book motif in the Biedermeier period (1830-1850).
Our Boy Building Snowman mold was carved in 2008 by Guido Neff from Appenzell, Switzerland. The original wooden mold is located in a Swiss private collection.
