Description: A single Christmas Rose (also known as the "Snow Rose" or "Winter Rose") in full bloom, with two seed pods. Perhaps the best known legend about the Christmas rose is of Madelon, a small shepherd girl who came to Bethlehem on the night that Christ was born. Poor Madelon wept, wishing that she had a gift she could carry to the infant. A watching Angel, taking pity on her, caused the snow at the girl's feet to vanish, revealing a beautiful white flower with pink tipped petals, formed by the Angel from the tears which had fallen from the eyes of the little shepherdess. Overjoyed, Madelon presented her gift at the manger of the baby Jesus...her gift of the Christmas Rose.
