Description: Saint Florian- Patron Saint of Firefighters & Chimney Sweeps. Saint Florian (250-304 A.D.) was a Roman Commander who organized an elite group of soldiers specifically trained to fight fires. When he refused to kill Christians in his province, the Roman Governor Aquilinus ordered him put to death. To commemorate his life and death St Florians’ Feast Day and International Firefighters’ Day is held on May 4th. Our Saint Florian mold depicts the Legend of St. Florian putting out a house fire with a bucket of water.

Fun Fact: The item number chosen for this mold is based on an historic telegraph code used to indicate that a firefighter died in the line of duty. The Tolling of the Bells--five bell chimes then a pause, repeated four times--is still heard at fallen firefighters’ memorial services.
