Description: In the Middle Ages, the wild boar was admired (and feared) for its ferocity and courage. It enjoyed great popularity and in some parts of Europe was exclusively preserved in the royal forests to be hunted by the monarch and favored noblemen.
This reproduction of an antique design features a wild sow and her piglets, with a large, leafy tree behind her--symbols of health, abundance, and plenty consistent with a medieval viewpoint.
