Description: Four Calling Birds springerle cookie mold by House on the Hill. As we learned in the Christmas Carol, the Calling Birds are the 4th of 12 gifts representing the 12 days between the birth of Jesus and the Epiphany, The mold has an arched top, reminiscent of a church window. A matching cookie cutter is also available.

Ever wonder about the meanings of each gift in the song? When first published in 1780, they were referred to as "Colly Birds", meaning black birds. The birds changed names many times as the song was interpreted and reprinted over time, including versions with "Canary Birds" and "mockingbirds". By the name we know them today, the Four Calling Birds originally represent the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Looking for all twelve molds at once? The entire set of 12 Days of Christmas can also be purchased at the same time.

House on the Hill Springerle Mold Care: To clean your molds, gently wash with a drop of dish soap and water. A soft toothbrush works well to get in any small grooves. Rinse completely. Gently remove as much water as possible with a soft dish towel and dry carving side down on a clean dry towel or cooling rack to allow air flow. Dry completely before storing. Never leave your molds to soak in water or put them in a dishwasher.
